hello! i’m Nell
Part-time reader, full-time blogger
I loved reading as a child. My mother took me to the library with my younger brother weekly. I’d walk out with handfuls of treasured stories that allowed me to escape my sometimes volatile childhood into magical lands and happy places. I enjoyed reading as I grew but it became much more difficult to read when I got chronically ill in my 30s.
And though I still have cognitive issues that make reading more difficult, and sometimes even frustrating, than when I was a little girl – I love stories, lands of make believe, stories that inspire, take me away, romance mostly. I have purposed to make more time for reading, to walk back into the wonderland of novels, and also to exercise that part of my brain.
So that is where Pribbles was born from, a place of choosing to get back to a childhood love and share the journey with you, too. This blog is a place of reviews, of sharing favorites, of documenting how reading may help my brain recover from disease, and how the stories I read, and sometimes listen to, may inspire me in my life. (or just be downright fun to escape into!)
And maybe one day my title will flip from part-time reader to full-time reader! How fun would that be?
Thanks for being here!
Love,
Nell
