How I Chose My Baby Names
My first son my husband and I both chose his name while swimming in the pool on our honeymoon, long before pregnant with him. His was the easiest to choose, first and middle name. His middle name is my husband’s middle name.
My second son was a little trickier because we were going between to theme ideas for our kids; short names or Italian names. My husband is Italian, thus why we were debating it.
In the end, we wanted a short 1 syllable names for our children. So, after hearing a family last name that makes for a great first name, we decided on that. His middle name was a name that had a dear meaning to me. His first name also guided us a bit with our third son, I’ll tell that story in a bit.
Our third and last son was the most difficult to choose. I wanted Eli or Levi or something along those lines. My husband was much more bold in his name desires. We ended up going with a name that I’d not have chosen on my own but once I sat with it for a while, fell in love with it’s uniqueness and strong sound.
So my middle son having a bit of a unique name, led us to the unique and bold choice of our third son.
His middle name is also a family last name to honor a grandparent who was dear to my heart.
In the end, whether you want unique, cool, strong, short, long, or whatnot, go with your gut and your heart and you can always wait to choose until after the baby is born and you lay eyes on them.
