Paper Plate Bunny Craft
This paper plate bunny craft is such a fun and easy project—and the best part? You only need a handful of supplies, which you probably already have at home. It’s perfect for toddlers and preschoolers, with simple steps that little ones can help with.
Parents may want to do the plate-cutting part ahead of time, just to keep things safe and smooth. Once it’s all put together, the finished bunny is absolutely adorable, complete with fluffy cotton ball details and the sweetest little face.
If you’re crafting for spring, Easter, or just a cozy afternoon activity, this bunny is sure to be a hit!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Any size paper plate
- White card stock
- Cotton balls
- Elmer’s glue
- Colored pencils or crayons
- Kid-friendly scissors
- Googly eyes (optional, but fun!)

Paper Plate Bunny Directions
I used a small paper plate, but a standard 9-inch plate will work just fine.
Cut the paper plate in half, this will give you two bunnies.

Next, you’ll get your white cardstock paper and draw either a circle or oval, depending on the head shape you’d like.
I drew a large circle and a large oval for my bunnies. Make sure you draw the ears on top of the shape, too.

Cut out the shape, making sure to keep the ears and head together as you cut the rest of the paper away.

Add the facial features while the head is not attached to the paper plate body. It’ll make it easier to draw on.
I added a googly eye to this bunny, but you can easily draw the eye as well.
If you do use a googly eye, all you need to do is add a drop of glue to the back and let the glue dry before playing with the bunny.
I colored in the inner ears, added a touch of a blushing cheek, and a nose/mouth to complete the face.

Just grab the head and add glue to the back that will attach to the paper plate. Place the head on the paper plate and press firmly, and let the glue dry.

Next, you’ll grab a cotton ball and place a couple of dabs of glue on one side and place it firmly on the opposite side of the paper plate to where the head is.

The last step is simply to grab a colored pencil and draw a back leg shape on the paper plate to represent a bunny’s hind leg.

Optional Ideas
Allow the kids to color the paper plate and head of the bunny, add stickers, and even finger paint!
You could also cut out a front leg and glue that to the plate!
Take my ideas and run with them.

A few extra tips:
- If you don’t have googly eyes on hand, just draw the eyes on with colored pencils or cut small circles from paper.
- Want to add a little personality? Let your child choose fun colors for the ears or add a bow with ribbon or paper scraps.
- Make a whole bunny family using different plate sizes—mini dessert plates for baby bunnies are extra cute!
