Trending Name Themes
You may have picked up on the theme I’m seeing a lot this year; vintage.
We’re talking names that were popular in the early 1900s.
Names like Theodore, with that sweet nickname of Teddy, and Henry are in the top 10 for boys. And vintage names like Violet, Evelyn, and Hazel are in the top 20 for girls.
Now, while vintage names didn’t make a huge dent in the top 20 – that doesn’t mean they aren’t trending. The theme is trending but just isn’t saturating the top 20 list.
But, don’t just take my word for it – What to Expect talks about vintage names having a comeback. Name Berry talks about names from the 1920s that are making a comeback. And this article by Baby Center shares names that are due for revival.

More Trends in Baby Names
In addition, I’ve observed parents opting for gender-neutral names or even traditional boy names for girls. Names like Teddy, James, Miller, and more have been observed on Instagram announcements this year.
Name Berry has a list of boy names for girls.
I’m also noticing that country/southern-themed names and boho names are all the rage on my website. This doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a phenomenon worldwide or even Statewide, but it is something to note.

Whether you choose a trending, popular name, or a name on the rise, or an uncommon name it’s a very personal choice and you should be happy with the name you choose for your baby.
These are trends I’m seeing in the landscape of baby names for 2023 and 2024 and what’s popular on my website.
If you have a particular baby name you’d like to check the popularity of, I’d recommend using the Social Security Administration name site and scrolling to Items of Interest.
